MARTY FRIEDMAN DELVES INTO THE 'UNDERTOW' IN NEW MUSIC VIDEOMonday, January 05, 2015 - Posted by Prosthetic Records, in Vidéo, News
Following a triumphant trek across the UK alongside Kreator, Arch Enemy and Shining (NOR), MARTY FRIEDMAN is excited to present his brand new music video for "Undertow," taken from his internationally acclaimed solo album "Inferno." The video features an unsullied look at Japanese culture, says FRIEDMAN (who currently resides in Tokyo): "'Undertow' gives you a look at the Japan not usually seen by the typical Japanese exports like crazy TV shows, ultra-cute singers and anime. It shows a day in the life of Japan as the Japanese see it, not the stereotypical Western 'Japanophile' view of it."
Regarding the video's concept, FRIEDMAN explains that "the 'Undertow' video attempts to show that when you see a thing of beauty, there is often an undercurrent of true sadness and hardship behind the scenes which creates the motivation to do something extraordinary." Let "Undertow" sweep you away into FRIEDMAN's world as you watch the video below or via YouTube! "Inferno" won extensive praise from critics and fans alike upon its release earlier this year, receiving coverage from mainstream media outlets (Billboard, Grammy.com, NPR) and rock press (Guitar World, Revolver, Decibel, Metal Hammer, Vintage Guitar) alike. Described by Rolling Stone as “rich with complex melodies and nuanced arrangements," "Inferno" features 12 dynamic tracks featuring guest appearances by the likes of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Danko Jones, Alexi Laiho, Dave Davidson and Jørgen Munkeby in addition to a special songwriting collaboration with former Cacophony bandmate and ALS survivor Jason Becker. FRIEDMAN has promoted "Inferno" throughout the past year with featured appearances on VH1's "That Metal Show," DirecTV's 'The Artie Lange Show' and FUSE's "Metal Head-to-Head" with Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman. Prior to this month's UK tour, FRIEDMAN performed at Japan's largest annual heavy metal music festival, Loud Park, and joined Gus G (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne) on an extensive European tour. Stay tuned for North American dates! |
