The End Of All Things is for C R O W N what Kid A was for Radiohead: an album that nobody

was expecting from them.

Dark and moody; bleak and sublime; airy and crushing; mesmerizing and engrossing; bold yet unerring; strident, danceable and suffocating, all at the same time. An album oozing with tasteful, fragile hooklines flirting with the abyss they are hovering above, encapsulated within an ingenious major production, provided by one half of C R O W N himself: David Husser has worked as a sound engineer, producer and musician all across the globe with

artists like Alan Wilder o f Depeche Mode or at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio, and has toured with his industrial band Y Front alongside Rammstein in the 90s. Paul Kendall (Mute Records, NIN, Nick Cave) said about David: "a distorting diamond... we have collaborated on a number of projects and I have been amazed by his ability to teach an old dog new tricks. He is simply the best recording engineer I have ever met".

The other half of C R O W N is founding father and vocalist Stéphane Azam, who has worked as live sound engineer for French blackgaze pioneers Alcest for years. Stéphane's low, soothing voice on The End Of All Things comes as a complete surprise to anyone familiar with the band's previous 2 records, which featured mostly screamed vocals – a fact showcasing the immense versatility of the musicians at work here.

Furthermore, In contrary to previous efforts, there are (almost) no vocal guest appearances on The End Of All Things – 'almost', because Karin Parks of Årabrot lends her beautiful voice to closing track Utopia. David pushed Stéphane from the start of the writing and recording process to do all the vocals himself, for the sake of coherence: he wanted the band and the album to have one single "captain of the vessel. Stéph sings with a very low voice now, and it was a challenge to make space for that sound- and production -wise, we had to find some kind of relief in the low register. It took us pretty long to find what we consider the right recipe to make it work", Husser explains. Crown started out in 2011 as 2 men and a drum machine, and their debut album instantly got them an invitation to the prestigious Roadburn festival in 2013, and a record deal with Candlelight. The duo's early sound was defined by hissing electronics, soaring heavy guitars and the absence of "real" drums, touching on industrial metal acts like Godflesh, Ministry or Killing Joke.

The End Of All Things is clearly a departure from that sound in almost every imaginable way. "Life is change, its the only thing we can always expect", says Husser. "It's the same with music.

I personally feel offended when a band just regurgitates their own ideas and delivers a copy of the previous album, over and again... I want to take risks and let myself in for adventures and ventures  nto new territories, otherwise it wouldn't be art anymore".

The End Of All Things 'is a seminal album, which could well turn into a new 'Shape Of Heavy Music To Come'. Get involved.

WHEEL, James Lascelles (vocals, guitar) was the guest of ZanZanA Live Stream Metal Interview hosted by Karim Benamor on thursday April 01 at 8:30 PM (gmt+1).

We spoke about "Resident Human" who was released on March 26, 2021 via Odyssey Music.

▬ About WHEEL ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The Helsinki-based Wheel were formed in 2015 when singer James Lascelles moved to Finland and, through a fluke appearance on a Finnish TV show, met the core of what would become the early stages of the band. 

The members' love of polyrhythms, different grooves, abstract time signatures and bands that see things differently would create the unique sound that appeared on their first EP in 2017. 

A follow-up EP 'The Divide' in 2018 would further cement the group as one to look out for.

 

With their first headline tour booked in for February 2020, and the promise of a US tour waiting for them in April, it was around then the instrumental bare bones of 'Resident Human' were coming together. Initially to be squeezed into a 10-week recording period, their plans changed once COVID-19 hit the world hard; the band had to roll with the ever-changing punches.

 

From the desperate content harvest of copy/paste culture ("Ascend") to the polarized rhetoric surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement in America ("Movement"), 'Resident Human' is Wheel vocalizing the ashes they've witnessed falling throughout 2020 - putting a voice to our fallible nature.

 

"We joked at the start of the year that it's going to be the year of progressive music concept albums about COVID," James laughs. "And we've kind of done that…but it's more about the time COVID has allowed us to explore ourselves rather than the pandemic itself."

When the Dutch Iron Maiden fan club asked Joey Bruers to do a different show; something other than the regular tribute or cover band. Steve Harris was attending the convention, so he had to think of something special. With musicians from several bands he performed a set of rearranged acoustic Maiden songs. The reactions from the crowd were overwhelming. The idea that became a show then became a project. A project to bring all kinds of musicians and fans together to celebrate the music. Maiden uniteD presents classic Iron Maiden songs in a new and exciting light. Acoustic re-arrangements that transform the songs into something that Iron Maiden fans would have never imagined hearing. Maiden uniteD has released 3 albums and an EP'.

"Mind The Acoustic Pieces" is an all-acoustic reinterpretation of the classic 1983 album 'Piece of Mind' with new arrangements. This release was accompanied by a European club tour and also brought them to the Download festival and Wacken Open Air. 'Across The Seventh Sea' features some well-known and some less well-knowsntracks by Iron Maiden. The guest musicians are Perttu Kivilaakso (Apocalyptica) on the album and Lee Morris (ex-Paradise Lost), Stef Broks (Textures) and Luke Appleton (Iced Earth) as tour guests.

The album 'Remembrance' even featured Maiden veterans Bayley and Di'Anno and was toured extensively with several tour guests as well. They closed off this chapter with a show at the Royal Theatre in Amsterdam with guests Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) and Perttu Kivilaakso. Here they played their Empire of the Clouds suite, which was released as an EP on June 8th 2018. 

The latest album 'The Barrel House Tapes' took Maiden uniteD in yet another new direction.

Since the band’s latest release, the superb „Gunmen“, ORDEN OGAN have been at the forefront of power metal. Now, after a few delays, the new album „Final Days“ was finally released on March 12th, 2021.

The album, once again produced by band leader Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann, is a real smasher and shows that the German group is among the best songwriters in heavy metal. „Final Days“ combines finesse with huge riffs, clever arrangements with great melodies and even after the umpteenth spin you still discover something new. All of this is wrapped in a larger-than-life production so what more can one ask for?

Orden Ogan have managed to keep their trademarks but also integrated new influences into the sound, which make “Final Days” an extremely exciting album of highest quality. 

"Final Days" was  released worldwide on March 12th, 2021 via AFM Records and comes along with a “luxury problem“, the bar for future releases (both by Orden Ogan and in the melodic metal scene in general) is now incredibly high.

Nawather est un groupe tunisien de métal oriental fondé en 2013 avec une musique particulière. Outre l'influence de nombreuses personnalités occidentales bien connues, Nawather a été parmi les premiers à fusionner le Qanun, le roi des instruments arabes, avec la musique métal. Cet instrument a tendance à jouer un rôle principale dans la musique classique tunisienne appelée «malouf».

Le deuxième album "Kenz Illusion" est la suite du premier album, mais retenu avec des mélodies plus riches et techniques sur des percussions et des instruments à cordes arabes qui ont été soigneusement combinés et maîtrisés par Fredrik Nordström afin de créer une oeuvre d'art plus unique et exotique
