When dreams should become reality, there are many compromises to be made. But sometimes dreams become so real, that you feel as though you are in a dream. A paradox? Possibly. Yet when the two schoolfriends Matteo Bonini and Antonio Sigismondi dedicated themselves to their youthful dreams of making music, they didn't know that, a few years later, they would have a band, which had the makings of international notoriety. The Italian formation FLASHBACK OF ANGER are so far above others of their local scene in that the six lads have an incredibly good feeling for high quality, emotional songs and, in addition, play these at a technical level which make the rest of the neighbourhood bands pale in comparison. One can ignore all the clichees generally applied to Italian bands, looking instead of the higher niveau of groups such as Shadow Gallery, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation and Sonata Arctica. It is music which straddles and masters complex, demanding passages and brilliant heaviness.
On their debut album, "Splinters Of Life" the Italian sextet delivers songs full of passion, full of creativity, stylish melodies and just the right heaviness factor. In their early days, the band, founded in 2003 had the same line-up problems and changes as every other young, enthusiastic group. But in Italy's pulsating scene they soon found suitable colleagues for their mutual musical visions and in the person of Alessio Gori they soon found another important link for the band's highly motivated chain. In 2004 they had their first demo, entitled "Pant Rei" in their hands, after finishing the international Emergenza Rock Contest amongst the top four. By 2005 the line-up comprised of Alessio Gori (vocals, keyboards), Giulio Cercato (lead guitar), Matteo Bonini (rhythm guitar), Francesco Masini (bass), Antonio Sigismondi (drums) and Emanuele Giorgetti (keyboards). It was in this formation that they recorded their successful demo, "Off With My Heart" in 2006. The musical direction of FLASHBACK OF ANGER became firmer. A heightened progressivity was noticeable, yet they were strict in ensuring that melody and harmony did not become buried. The band continued to play live shows and realised that a professional management was the order of the day, if they were to fully concentrate on their music. They found a suitable partner in 2007 in The Madmen’s Poets Management (tmp corporation), who recognised the band's potential immediately and who convinces FLASHBACK OF ANGER to record an album. After a short search, the Management found a suitable studio and producer - no lesser than the popular High Gain Recording Studio in Hamburg, where FLASHBACK OF ANGER’S debut album, "Splinters Of Life" would be born under the production team of Arne Lakenmacher (Tour Manager of Amon Amarth and Nevermore), Dirk Schlächter and Kai Hansen (both of Gamma Ray). Just before recordings began, the band had the chance to play at the Evolution Festival in Italy together with Nevermore, Kamelot, Fates Warning, Virgin Steele and others. Winter 2007 saw the band flying to Hamburg to record their first concept album. However, the recordings had to be suspended unexpectedly, when Alessio Gori was invited to accompany Gamma Ray on their "Hellish Rock" world tour as their official keyboarder. When the tour ended, the band returned to the studio in order to take up where they had left off. In the meantime, their management had found an ideal partner for the publication of the album in the form of LIMB MUSIC PRODUCTS (LMP). The barometer for FLASHBACK OF ANGER suddenly showed "Storm".... "Splinters Of Life" will thrill all those music fans, which appreciate progressive and melodic elements in one well-balanced sound. Alternately arranged, with a crisp sound and songs, which get under your skin. "Splinters Of Life" gives the listener all this with every second it is playing. All the passion and perfect instrumental style of a band, which knows exactly what it wants and where it is going, come to the fore in songs such as "Off With My Heart", "All I Have” and the brilliant, spine-tingling "Back In The Nightmare”. The Cercato/Bonini guitar combo lays down a broad carpet of sound, which the rest of the band uses as a solid base to inject the well prepared songs with a healthy dose of positive metal feeling. Unwatered melodic-progressive Metal from a band whose name will be heard a lot in 2009. < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 11">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 11"> Line-Up: Matteo Bonini - rhythmguitar Emanuele
