SAVAGE BLADE are very fresh band from British Columbia / Canada, that came together a year ago in 2008 and have already kicked out a massive debut album that breathes the spirit of the classic 80s heavy metal, no matter if it is european, british or american metal, through every note they play here.

They did not have much time to drop the greenhorn but they kick major ass already, with playing and songwriting skills that stand on the same level as many legendary 80s metal bands. And if this is not enough, they even sound absolutely authentical due to their attitude to consider „Heavy Metal“ not only as a musical genre but a way of life to celebrate. This year's debut album „We Are The Hammer“ has been issued privately as a heavy piece of vinyl first, before Pure Steel Records signed SAVAGE BLADE for the CD release, which is completly new mastered. And they really do justice to the album title.

The band comes up with raw and heavy riffing, adds charismatic, melodic vocals, that are still driven by a subtle fury, which is the driving force behind the wicked and razorsharp metal screams. The melodies are wild and moving, get you by the balls from the first spin you give to this album and are still earthy and forceful enough, to let their sheer power give them a refreshing expression, no matter how often you play the record. Even a more solemn track such as „Willow run“ is far from the pathetic, airplay oriented AOR ballad people could expect. This is the birth of an anthem, nothing else.

„We are the hammer“ proves once more that the current heavy metal underground can still produce miraculous albums and enormous talent, which have the power to keep a purely orthodox genre under full steam. This album could even be one of those mystical lost gems from the 80s or early 90s, when especially in Northern America, quite a few bands kept the flame of eternally young heavy metal burning.

SAVAGE BLADE are among the spearhead of the new wave of heavy metal bands that do not go for retro sounds but for real emotions and absolutely classic, yet unique songs and they put up mighty, mighty guns to give quite a few old legends a run for their money.
