BIOGRAPHY:
KATANGA were founded in 1998, first show on the Fama-Festival in Swinemünde Poland. Members at that time next to Mario and Micha have been Jörg Nemzow and Matthias Wolff (Red Ink) Wilko (Bass) and Adrian (Keyboards) join the band.

1999 second apperance on the Fama-Festival in Poland The EP „Leben“ is released

2000 The Batflight-EP is being recorded

2001 next to shows at Tankhaus Stavenhagen and Potsdam folgt support of Knorkator on the airfield in Anklam in May 2001. On July 11th Katanga support Blind Passengers. In the same year more shows in Berlin and on the Landesrockfestival at the MAU in Rostock. More shows a.o. in Eberswalde and Stralsund

2002 More shows a.o. in Berlin, Potsdam and Sulzbach-Rosenberg supporting amongst others Scream Silence and The Cascades.

In 2003 the band supported Scream Silence at Tankhaus Stavenhagen and in Swiece (Polen) More shows followed in 2004 a.o. at Rabazco-Nacht in Berlin with Down Below and Thanateros. Adrian leaves the band In the same year the Darkchild-CD is recorded. Jan (Ex-Dementi) and Doreen join the band. The band signs with the Berlin based label Rabazco. A video clip for the song “Blutfreier“ is shot in Berlin and Greifswald.

In 2005 the band supports Umbra et Imago in Berlin. Jan leaves the band and Daniel becomes the new KATANGA drummer.

2006 More shows this time also in Switzerland, the Netherlands and in Poland. Katanga play on the Burgnächte-Festival in Roßlau with The Dreamside and Clan of Xymox.

2007 The label Rabazco joins Sony BMG. Appearance on the Dark Eastern Festival in Berlin In mid 2007 songwriting for the Moonchild album begin. The album is produced by Ron Thiele (Dreadful Shadows). Guest vocals appear by Sven Friedrich (Dreadful Shadows, Zeraphine, Solar Fake). It takes unitl early 2010 to finish the Moonchild album . The album is being mastered by Vincent Sorg (ASP, In Extremo, Grave Digger, Tote Hosen), Peter „Pluto“ Neuber and Thorsten Wyk.
